See what the photographers had to say about these photos!

This is another photo of our backyard. It was photographed on a beautiful, sunny day, but unfortunately the original turned out very dark. Perfectly Clear™ brings out the details in the tree bark, and also the redness in the arbutus tree on the left of the image. The green leaves are much more vibrant, as is the blue ocean. The houses and trees in the background in the Perfectly Clear™ image now look how they did that day when the sun was shining directly on them. My three clay frogs under the tree in the Perfectly Clear™ image are now visible. This image now looks like it was in the real world.

This image of our backyard was photographed on a late spring afternoon, on a brilliant, sunny day. Unfortunately the image from the camera is very dark with lots of shadows which is not how it looked that day. Perfectly Clear™ removed the shadows revealing the green in the trees, bushes and grass, and the red bark in the arbutus trees and the red brick sidewalks. The water is a more brilliant blue in the Perfectly Clear™ image and the sky is not washed out. The Perfectly Clear™ image is a true rendition of how our backyard looks.

This was a night time shot taken in the Shipibo Village of Galileo. The original photo came out dark and murky. The Perfectly Clear image brought back the real colors of the piranha we were eating. The color tones of the skin from being on the river all day came out just like they really were.

I’m amazed with how Perfectly Clear™ has removed the shadows on the bushes, revealing the true green that I saw when I took this photo. The brilliance and colors in the cliff are now revealed, revealing the details. Lastly, the reflection of the bright sunlight on the right side of the cliff is evident, and most important, it hasn’t caused this portion of the image to be washed out. I’m very impressed with how Perfectly Clear™ has been able to restore this image back to the true colors that I actually saw when I took it.

Due to the filter that I had on my camera, it captured a lot of blue due to the water and sky. Unfortunately, the original image is much darker than I saw when I photographed it. In fact, I can hardly see the trees on the peninsula across the lake. This has all been corrected on the Perfectly Clear™ image! I am very impressed with how clear the reflection on the lake is, and how the fisherman’s line is now evident. Furthermore, his blue jeans are a truer blue, and the rocks in the shallow portion of the water are now more visible. There is no doubt that the Perfectly Clear™ image represents what I saw with my own eyes.

I remember when this picture was taken in the Amazon. I was researching the manaca plant for its medicinal properties. Like most pictures, it reminded me of the event. When I saw the Perfectly Clear image I was amazed. I don’t know how you do it, but the new image brought out the true colors of the plant. Even the background foliage came alive just like it really was that day.

According to the experts, Perfectly Clear beats expert correction 8 times out of 10!

Perfectly Clear® has many applications (see the Applications menu). HP estimates that there will be over 144 billion digital images taken this year. Based upon history at least 2/3 will need enhancement. This equates to almost 100 billion images - obviously a fast and easy correction solution is required.

As stated in our overview section, as the world moved from black and white to color, technology lagged. The result was a growing industry of graphic artists whose talents and knowledge of color enabled them to create, enhance, and embellish images to “look good”. Sometimes the results are “more realistic”, “more realistic to the graphic artist” or simply “prettier”. Perfectly Clear is technology catching up so the consumer (with no color expertise) can take or restore pictures to what he/she saw with their own eyes.

We wanted to see how Perfectly Clear performed against the leading professional software enhancement programs on the market, when such programs were used by artists and graphic artists. That is, we wanted to pit Perfectly Clear against the industry of experts. In order that there be no bias on our behalf, we even let the enhancement experts judge the results.

We engaged 3 independent graphic designers and web site studios. Each person/studio was given 10 randomly selected images to enhance. They used the leading software enhancement programs and spent 2 – 15 minutes on each image. We then asked them to compare their results with Perfectly Clear. This is what they told us:

"We were only able to enhance 2 of the 10 images to a better condition than Perfectly Clear. All images improved by Perfectly Clear took less than one second and the user only needed to click one button."

We believe these results are beginning to speak to the issue of the “real world…perfectly clear” versus “prettier” pictures. We reproduce all images below together with comments from the experts. We’ll let you be the judge to see if you agree with the experts.

Case Study # 1

"The Perfectly Clear image revealed more details in the tree bark area without losing fine highlights in the grass and background. Furthermore, the Perfectly Clear™ image kept the saturation of the water and made the greens more noticeable in the tree branches."

- Alexandra Pavlova, Graphic Designer

"We were impressed with the Perfectly Clear version’s vivid colors and overall contrast and detail. Utilizing our software we would have had to spend more time manually setting channel values to obtain the same overall result. Hard to believe Perfectly Clear did it in one click."

- Michael Wynn, Web Designer

Case Study # 2

"In my image, it was difficult to keep the sky from fading out, and the redness in the brick walkway has been lost. However, Perfectly Clear™ managed to lessen all of the shadows even more than I did. It also enhanced the sunny feeling without sacrificing the sky shades."

- Alexandra Pavlova, Graphic Designer

"Again, the Perfectly Clear version just has better overall color values compared to our manual attempt."

- Michael Wynn, Web Designe

Case Study # 3

"In the Perfectly Clear image, it's approach to rescue the dark details still kept some of the most important details in the lightest areas. The evidence can be seen in the pot on the table and the skin tones."

- Alexandra Pavlova, Graphic Designe

Case Study # 4

"Our process involved using Levels on the RGB and Blue channels along with RGB Channel curves changes and a lightening of the Shadows using Variations were utilized.

These images were quite different in their overall result and after analysing them, we like what Perfectly Clear did compared to our process."

- Michael Wynn, Web Designer

"The Perfectly Clear image reveals more details, especially in the mid grays of the trees’ dark branches. A viewer of the Perfectly Clear image will benefit from its obvious clarity and balance. Perfectly Clear is my choice in enhancing this photo."

- Alexandra Pavlova, Graphic Designer

Case Study # 5

"We used Levels commands targeted to the RGB and Green channels to bring out the crop detail and coloring. The software's 'auto-commands' did not provide any significant correction or enhancement.

While the images looked very close in terms of their overall levels and amount of detail, the Perfectly Clear image seemed to reveal coloring in the smoke trail of the plane that we were not aware of. Again, the fact that the Perfectly Clear technology accomplished it in one click is quite amazing."

- Michael Wynn, Web Designer

Case Study # 6

"This photograph is a classic example of one which is too dark to represent what was seen in the physical world at the time of viewing. The camera picked up the intense light of the signs in the trade show booth and made the individuals appear dark with a loss of much detail.

I adjusted the levels in each color channel and adjusted the color saturation of the image. As I get some of the darker parts of the image to begin coming up, I start losing the areas over-exposed by the flash. It's a tradeoff between color, contrast and detail. I had to make a decision which of these to compromise for the others.

This [final] result was achieved with a single click by an 8 year-old child, a novice computer-user, taking less than one second. Note how the sign remains readable and how one can now see the individuals' facial detail, complete with true complexion colors."

- Guy Parsons, Desktop Consultant & Graphic Designer

Case Study # 7

"This beautifully harmonious image of autumn scenery with a rustic mill required an overall development of its color balance. It was important to bring up the rich hues in the background trees without loosing the fine details in the wood of the barn. I believe that I managed to bring more depth and contrast to the whole image, while the on the other hand Perfectly Clear accomplished brighter colors and shadows and bringing out more detail in the trees. Nevertheless, Perfectly Clear did a fantastic job in a second while I spend many minutes adjusting, manipulating and comparing. Both Perfectly Clear and my image are great in their own ways, therefore it is a tie."

- Alexandra Pavlova, Graphic Designer

"We felt this one was a tie in terms of the final image result. The fact that we could have saved 15 minutes by pressing one button to achieve the same result is awesome."

- Michael Wynn, Web Designer

Case Study # 8

"This mountain lake is another dark image with bright white areas and undefined mid-tones. My main focus was to enhance the dazzling white snow peaks reflecting in the peaceful lake as well as to better define the two fishermen in the foreground who were hard to see against the dark water behind them. In the process, I had to sacrifice some of the details in the fisherman’s white shirt and some of the foreground gravel highlights. Perfectly Clear impressed me with its ‘holding back’ on the contrast while focusing on the mid-tones and discovering hidden details and colors in the peninsula of trees across the lake and to the left of the image. Perfectly Clear did a great job."

- Alexandra Pavlova, Graphic Designer

Case Study # 9

"Auto levels was applied and then manual changes were made with Red Channel Curves and Level commands. We also used Auto Contrast, but then reversed the command as we needed to fine tune manually. We prefer our image as the Perfectly Clear version has too much of a red cast."

- Michael Wynn, Web Designer

"A beautiful portrait of a little girl had a slight gray and dark tint to it. Perfectly Clear did a great job in discovering more information in the hair braids, however, that took away some of the plasticity and drama of the portrait - the lights and shadows met more in the neutral, medial grounds of the middle tones. I think that my software did a better job in rendering this photo."

- Alexandra Pavlova, Graphic Designer

Case Study # 10

"It is a bit tricky to balance the improvement of the very busy dark background of many shadows with the textures foreground of a white object. Apart from the stronger saturation of reds in the man’s face, Perfectly Clear did an amazing job enhancing the lightness and vibrant greens with many details quite well. The ground is a full rich brown compared with the washed out grey in my image. The man’s watch and jeans also contain more color in the Perfectly Clear image compared with mine."

- Alexandra Pavlova, Graphic Designer
